Q: What do we do when inclement weather is in the forecast?

  • We follow the Wake County School System with delays and cancellations. If Wake County cancels after school activities, we will as well. If your event is on the weekend, we will contact you as soon as we make a decision.

Q: Is there a registration fee?

  • No! All of our classes, camps and workshops do not require a registration fee.

Q: How do I register?

  • You can register online through our website using any of the Online Booking Tabs. You can also stop by Artopia during office hours and we would be more than happy to register your child in person. Or if you’d like, just give us a call during office hours and we’ll register your child right over the phone. You will be required to use a major credit card.

  • Office hours are Monday thru Friday 8:30am - 4:00pm

Q: When can I register?

  • Registration for classes at Artopia is ongoing, which means that you can sign up at anytime. Deposit or full amount must be paid at the time of registration.

Q: Do you offer Trial Classes?

  • Yes. We offer trial rates for select classes, sign-up by phone!

Q: Do you offer multi-class and sibling discounts?

  • Yes. We currently offer a sibling discount. If two siblings are registered at the same time, a 5% discount applies to the total. If three or more siblings are registered at the same time, a 10% discount applies to the total. *No other discounts apply

Q: Do you offer any refer a friend discounts?

  • Yes. When you refer a friend and the friend registers for a class, you BOTH receive a $20 Referral Gift Card which can be applied to any of our regular programs.

Q: Do you provide forms online?

  • Yes. All forms that are needed are available online and in person at our reception desk. Different forms may be required for different classes. Please consult the class information page to know which forms apply. Forms will need to be filled out and brought to the Arts Administrator at reception when your child arrives. We encourage you to sign up online to reserve your spot in our classes first. In case you forget, we always have forms on hand.

Q: What is the procedure for pick-up and drop-off?

  • For ages 15 and under, parents must sign their child(ren) in at the front desk and sign them out at pick-up for every class period. If someone other than a parent will be picking-up the student throughout the week, parents must list the names of alternate contacts on the Emergency Contact and Medical Form, which is submitted by parents at the start of any class. An alternate contact will need to present to a valid ID matching one of the names on the list before the student is allowed to leave.

  • For students age 16 and older, parents must sign their student(s) in on the first day of class, and then may opt to sign a form granting permission for their student(s) to enter and exit class on their own. This permission form is available at reception and may be signed at any time throughout the duration of the session. Without this permission form, the same procedure as for ages 15 and under applies. Parents may also at any time revoke the permission by speaking to the Arts Administrator.

Q: If I need to cancel my student’s enrollment in a class will I be reimbursed?

  • Yes. In the event that you need to cancel your student’s enrollment, the following tuition reimbursement rates apply: less than 10 days’ notice, no reimbursement; 10 – 14 days’ notice, 30% reimbursement; at least 15 days’ notice, 50% reimbursement; 30 or more days’ notice, 100% reimbursement.

Q: How does Artopia store personal belongings?

  • Our facilities are equipped with cubbies (not lockers) where our students may store their belongings during class time. As such, please do not send your student(s) to class with valuables or anything that you or they would not want to be lost or damaged (ie: jewelry, electronics, etc). Artopia and its staff are not responsible for items that are lost or damaged on the premises.

Q: Does Artopia keep a lost-and-found?

  • Yes. Found items will be placed in Artopia’s lost-and-found box located behind the reception desk. In order to check lost-and-found for a missing item, please ask a staff member’s assistance - we are always happy to help. Items that have no label/name on them and that are in the lost-and-found for over two weeks, will be consider abandoned and Artopia will donate them to a local charity.

Q: Is there a policy for cell phones?

  • We understand that many students carry cell phones for personal and/or emergency use. If your student(s) carries/carry cell phones, we ask that the device remains in storage cubby or with reception between pick-up and drop-off times, with the exception of emergency situations. If you need to reach your student, you can call the Artopia line, a staff member will answer and will bring your student to the phone or permit them to call on their personal phone. Students ages 16 and over may carry their phones on them, but if their use disrupts the class, Artopia will ask to hold the phone at reception until the end of the class period.

Q: What type of clothes should my student wear to class?

  • We ask that students come in clothes that are conducive to light physical activity, and that can withstand some paint splatter (i.e., please, nothing brand new that you or your student wouldn’t want to chance damaging!). For ages 12 and under, if you worry that your next Picasso or Eva Hesse might be a little too enthusiastic with materials one day, feel free to send him or her with one change of clothes. This extra outfit should be kept in a Ziploc bag clearly labeled with your child(ren)’s name(s), and will be stored in your child(ren)’s cubby. If it remains at Artopia after pick-up time on the last day of class, staff will place it in the Artopia lost-and-found box.

Q: What if my student(s) has allergies or takes medication?

  • Allergies: If your student has food or other serious allergies, we require that you indicate the allergen and treatment employed on the Emergency Contact and Medical Form. Students whose parents/guardians do not complete these allergy forms will be allowed to follow along with the class, but will not be permitted to use the art materials and, if the class includes a snack time, must eat snack separately, to prevent any sharing of allergy-related food, until the forms are completed and turned in.

  • Medication: We prefer that all medication be administered at home.

  • Inhaler: For ages 12 and under, if your student requires an inhaler, Artopia receptionist must receive a note from the prescribing doctor indicating that the student may administer the inhaler him/herself. If you or your student prefers not to hold on to the inhaler during class, the inhaler may be checked in with the receptionist at the beginning of each class for safe storage throughout the class. If/when your child requires the inhaler, he/she will alert the instructor, who will then retrieve it from reception. The inhaler must be in a re-sealable plastic bag with your student’s name clearly labeled on it and must be retrieved by you or your student at the end of each class.

  • Epi-pen: If your student might require an Epi-pen, the prescribing doctor must provide a note indicating protocol for its administration. Check-in, storage, and retrieval protocol is the same as for an inhaler: please see above.

Q: Does Artopia post photos of classes on Social Media?

  • Yes! We love to take pictures of our Artopia students and staff getting creative throughout the day and we love to post them on our Instagram, Facebook, and other Social media so that you may get a glimpse of the fun we have! If you prefer not to have your student(s) in these pictures, please follow the instructions provided in our Waiver Statement.
