Deborah Hopper

Program Director and Art Instructor

A resident of Clayton North Carolina, Deborah graduated in 1995 from Paier College of Art in Hamden Connecticut. She studied under Illustrator and President of the Society of Illustrators, NYC, Tim O’Brien and historian muralist of the Peabody Museum, New Haven, CT, Rudolph Zallinger. Her focus was in photorealism in both oil and acrylic media. Deborah spent fifteen years as a professional photographer while raising two beautiful children and painting in her free time.

She was a chair for the PTA REFLECTIONS ART PROGRAM in 2005-2008 and the top selling artist in the Dining With The Arts Program, Clayton in 2014.

Deborah is the Program Director at Artopia and owns her own business, Paint and Gather, which she offers paint parties on location in and around Clayton, NC.

Annette

Teacher/Administrator

Originally from the Maryland/DC area, she relocated to Raleigh NC to be close to her family. She has studio management experience and Art Instructor skills. She has taught at Elementary schools, pottery studios, Senior Centers, canvas painting studios as well as in home art workshops and painting parties. Given her previous experience her knowledge and creativity has what it takes to create, paint and have fun with artists from 2 to 92!

Her passion for art and creative flare keeps projects and ideas at Artopia fresh and exciting! She has a lot of love for helping and teaching all ages, Annette also assists our director with the daily front desks tasks and customer service.

Danielle Furegno

Art Camp Teacher

Originally from New York, Danielle attended SUNY Orange for Education, with a minor in Art. She has worked with Children of all ages, including as a previous illustration and drawing instructor for Middle School aged children. Danielle has also been a freelance Makeup Artist for the past 12 years and has done work with Film, Photography and Runway in New York City before moving to Raleigh in 2008. She recently attended Wake Tech for Photography and Special Event planning and has a love for anything DIY. She is inspired by graffitti and color, and has an obsession with 90's fashion, Holidays and going on adventures by car, foot or bicycle. She usually takes her camera wherever she goes! 

Jessica Hagen

Art Teacher

Jessica Hagen is a current resident of Raleigh, North Carolina originally from Buffalo, New York. In May of 2017, she graduated with her Bachelor of Arts from Meredith College with a major in Studio Art. Her passion is ceramic sculpture and enjoys working with young aspiring artists to help them find their passion in art.

Mary Finney

Digital Art Educator

 Born in North Carolina...raised everywhere ...I've lived in Germany, and Japan for some of the best years of my life. I received my Master's in Arts Education at the University of Florida Gainesville, FL in 2016 and also received a Bachelors in Fine Arts Concentration in Graphics, Fayetteville State University in Fayetteville, NC in 2011.

10 plus of experience in Graphic art, design, visual development. • Excellent interpersonal and social skills.  Exceptional knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Power Point, Excel, Office Scanners and printers, Microsoft Office Programs, Adobe CS5 and Master collections, and Apple/MacIntosh Computers (10+ years)

David Kuhn

Photography and Photoshop Instructor

David has created and instructed course outlines and syllabus's at Waketech for the last 6 years in Advanced Photoshop, Lightroom, Digital Photography, and Studio Lighting.
 
David is an expert photographer in lifestyle, studio, event, product, commercial, sports and art. Expert in Adobe 
Photoshop, Adobe Lightroom, and Lumapix, and in large format printing. He has a passion to teach others his knowledge of photography and Adobe Photoshop.  With is patience that surpasses the rest, he can lead others to become more proficient in all aspects of photography and Adobe Photoshop and to conceptualize, create and design marketing material.
 
 To use photography and lighting knowledge to showcase and brand products. Use 
expertise to photograph on location and in studio under diverse lighting situations. 
Solve complex or difficult lighting situations to achieve desired results. Ability to 
capture and covey message through photography expertise. Use expertise in Adobe 
Photoshop and Lightroom to in manipulate and alter imagery to satisfaction of art 
director. Ability to teach and lead others to become more proficient in all aspects of 
photography and Adobe Photoshop. Conceptualize, create and design marketing material.

Katie

Instructor- Birthday Parties and Afterschool

Katie born and raised in Rocky Mount NC, and is currently a senior at North Carolina State University majoring in Arts Studies with a minor in Arts Entrepreneurship. She has been an artist for many years, and mainly works with oils and acrylics to create paintings of things that she loves. She spent the summer studying oil painting in Florence, Italy and absolutely loves what she does! 

Lucia

Teen Workshop/Digital Art Instructor

Lucia has lived in the Raleigh-Durham area for about ten years, and she graduated from NCSU's College of Design in May 2016 with a Bachelor's degree in Art and Design: focus in Animation. She works primarily with digital media and has produced a number of animated shorts on her own, and currently works as a freelance artist/animator and Character Designer at Simeck Entertainment (outside teaching at Artopia, of course!)
